Become the Container™
for Couples

Next Gathering · September 19, 2026

Saturday · 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM

A full-day sacred gathering for couples ready to move from self-protection to shared responsibility, and to learn, together, how to See, Stay, and Hold.

With Doug & Carol · Hollywood, Florida

You already know the pattern.

One of you reaches, and the other pulls back. Or one of you goes quiet, and the other gets louder trying to be heard. You've had the same fight in different clothing more times than you can count, and somewhere underneath the words, you both already know how it ends.

Maybe it isn't loud anymore. Maybe it's gone quiet in a different way, the kind of quiet where you've both stopped reaching, where you're polite and efficient and co-parenting and paying bills together, but the aliveness between you feels far away. You still love each other. You just don't know how to get back to each other.

Here is what we want you to hear clearly: this is not a sign that something is broken in you, or in your relationship. It is a sign that no one ever taught either of you how to hold what gets stirred up between two people who truly matter to each other. Nobody taught you how to stay present when your partner's pain looks like an attack. Nobody taught you how to be steady without going hard, or soft without disappearing.

That can be learned. Doug and Carol did not begin their relationship knowing how to do this either. They found their way to it slowly, through their own cycles of disconnection, through the same fear of not belonging and the same protective withdrawal that so many couples carry. What they discovered, and what they now offer, is a way back. A practice. A container strong enough to hold both of you, even in the moments you feel least steady.

There is real hope here, and it does not require either of you to be fixed first. It only asks that you show up, together, willing to learn.

Three Sacred Phases

Every Become the Container™ gathering moves through the same three phases of the LC Journeys approach, weaving body, mind, and spirit into aligned living.

I
Opening the Field

Grounding & Intention

The day opens with grounding and intention-setting. Together, the group creates a sacred space of connection with self, partner, and one another, through gentle movement, breathwork, and contemplation. This is also when Doug and Carol demonstrate the Sacred Container ritual, showing couples how to build a relational field of safety, presence, and mutual support, before each couple practices it together.

II
Journey of Inner Discovery

Turning Inward, Together

Couples turn their gaze inward. Old patterns are released, clarity is invited, and self-compassion is embraced as each partner reconnects with the truth of who they are. The work may call quietly or with real depth, and Doug and Carol guide every couple, every step of the way.

III
Integration & Communion

Weaving It Back Together

After the spiritual journey, the group gathers in a circle of support and sharing. Insights are anchored, individual awakenings are woven into collective resonance, and couples are gently guided back toward ordinary life, carrying expanded awareness and a deeper connection to their shared path.

Brief History of Become the Container™

Become the Container™ did not begin as a brand, a theory, or an intellectual framework. It grew out of Doug and Carol's own lived experience in relationship, healing, family, men's work, and leadership.

Before the language existed, Doug was learning the practice through life itself: becoming clear about the stories that shaped him, staying present instead of escaping discomfort, and increasing his capacity to hold himself, his relationship, and the people entrusted to him.

In their own relationship, Doug and Carol discovered that conflict was often not created by the moment itself, but by the wounds and stories each person carried into the moment. Doug's fear of not belonging and Carol's protective withdrawal could easily become a cycle of disconnection. Over time, they learned to shift from blame to understanding, from reaction to presence, and from self-protection to shared responsibility. Their relationship became a living laboratory for the work: two people learning how to create a container together.

The framework became clearer through Doug's men's group, where he learned that leadership was never about dominance or having all the answers. It was about presence, about creating sacred space where men could tell the truth, stay in discomfort, and discover the men they wanted to become. The masculine version of Become the Container™ became a practice of steadiness, responsibility, protection without control, and strength without hardness.

The feminine version honors the wisdom of receptivity, intuition, embodiment, and emotional truth. It recognizes that becoming the container is not only about firmness or steadiness, but also about creating safety through attunement, tenderness, and relational presence. Together, the masculine and feminine expressions create a fuller relational field: structure and flow, protection and nurture, clarity and compassion, strength and softness.

"Love asks us to become bigger than our reactions, clearer than our stories, and steadier than our fears. Through story, teaching, reflection, and guided practice, partners will learn how to See what is really happening, Stay present when discomfort arises, and Hold each other with greater love, truth, and capacity."

Who This Workshop Is For

  • Couples who want to deepen trust, communication, intimacy, and emotional safety.
  • Couples who get caught in recurring cycles of withdrawal, defensiveness, blame, or disconnection.
  • Couples who are committed to growth and want practical tools for staying connected during difficult moments.
  • Partners who want to understand the masculine and feminine expressions of containment, without reducing either person to a fixed role.

What Couples Will Learn

  • How to See: identify the stories, assumptions, fears, and protective patterns active in the relationship.
  • How to Stay: remain present with discomfort without collapsing, attacking, escaping, or shutting down.
  • How to Hold: create enough internal and relational capacity to meet conflict, emotion, desire, and vulnerability with care.
  • How masculine containment offers steadiness, direction, and protection without dominance, and how feminine containment offers attunement, receptivity, and emotional truth without collapse.
  • How both partners can become co-creators of a shared container for the relationship.
The Take-Home Practice

See. Stay. Hold.

A guided reflection for each partner, couples dialogue prompts, embodied grounding and presence practices, and a take-home See. Stay. Hold. practice for continued integration, long after the day ends.
